Where You Can Marry in Denmark
A civil ceremony is performed by a Danish municipality. Each one sets its own available days, times, guest numbers and rooms — so the choice of municipality is a practical decision, not only an aesthetic one.
Capital Region
Copenhagen
Denmark's capital and the most requested ceremony city for international couples, with frequent international flights and a well-known city hall ceremony room.
Capital Region
Frederiksberg
An independent municipality inside Copenhagen, often chosen by couples who want a calmer ceremony setting a short journey from the city centre.
South Denmark
Ærø
A small island in the South Funen archipelago with a long tradition of hosting international couples.
Zealand
Stevns
A coastal municipality south of Copenhagen, known for the Stevns Klint cliffs and quiet ceremony settings.
Funen
Odense
Denmark's third-largest city, centrally located and easy to reach by train from Copenhagen Airport.
Capital Region
Helsingør
A historic harbour town north of Copenhagen, close to the Swedish coast.
We do not publish live availability. Ceremony dates, times and guest limits are decided by each municipality and change through the year. Tell us your preferred location and dates in your assessment and we will tell you what is realistic.
Other municipalities
Denmark has 98 municipalities and you are not limited to the ones listed above. Couples sometimes choose a municipality for a shorter waiting time, for a specific room, for weekend availability, or simply because it is easier to reach from their airport.
If you have somewhere specific in mind — or if what you really need is the earliest available date anywhere — say so in your assessment and we will work from that.
